Sen. Biden is one of the party's most well-respected elder statesmen.  He would be a real asset to the Democratic nominee in the area of foreign relations as either Secretary of State or Vice President.  

His biting (and effective) rhetorical skills would make a nice contrast to Obama's more hopeful rhetoric in a general election matchup with John McCain.
