Proud to be a latte-sipping, arugula-eating, kool-aid drinking egghead supporting Barack Obama.

I thought you would put a little more meat ont eh story because there is the interesting sidestory of where Dean has gone, who opposed him then and who is still opposing him...

But I was thinking maybe I'd take the poll and then do another thread with the results and some of that. I assume you mean the Clintons opposing him then (and now)?

Me bringing up teh Clintons is more of an attempt to bring a point int eh discussion... yes, it's divisive but it's relevant.
by jpfdeuce on Wed Feb 06, 2008 at 06:06:06 PM PDT
I have heard that the Clintons and McAuliffe were trying to push him aside behind the scenes when he ran in 2004, but haven't found a source. Do you have one?

were big proponents of Dean becoming DNC chair.
I would (safely) hazard a guess that without DailyKos Howard Dean would not be the head of the DNC.
Go to the DK archives from that time and you will see.

I know he was a big part of Dean becoming DNC chair.

he voted for Obama.
Yay.

I'm not the authoritative source, because I pretty much stayed on Dean's blog. But I'm pretty sure Markos was not in the Clinton's camp. (I always thought those were the gates he wanted to crash.) IIRC, he liked both Dean and Clark. I don't remember where he went after Dean screamed/dropped out.

migrated to Obama back in 2003/4 -- a few Obama supporters at Dean meetups were very pro-Obama.
I think at least in Illinois -- it was the Deaniac energy that transferred directly to Obama.
There's a kindred nature between Obama and Dean. I think that if Dean wasn't chairman -- he'd be on the trail for Obama.
I guess everyone's got their own blog now.

I vaguely remember that...does anyone know?

Obama "Original" Dean Dozen
You can sure see the 50 state strategy in his campaign.

The first, and presumably the last, instance that Barack Obama and myself will be mentioned in the same breath... :)

and went to a Dean training in Chicago in Oct. 2003. I saw all these 'Obama' signs - "Who's that?" "You don't know?" "Ummm...no." "You will!"
And so it happened.
by memiller on Wed Feb 06, 2008 at 06:18:17 PM PDT
that transpired between George W. Bush and Rep. Jan Schakowsky around that same time.

bet nobody back then predicted that Obama would be in Dean's shoes four years later.

even if not including favorites of many here like Feingold and Gore
there was another candidate for several months, Tom Vilsack, and you do not list him.
do we still have a Republic and a Constitution if our elected officials will not stand up for them on our behalf?

that i was omitting candidates who didn't run. The idea was to find out who people supported this year...you can't do that by including candidates who never ran!
by democrattotheend on Wed Feb 06, 2008 at 06:55:16 PM PDT
I wonder how many Deaniacs are not happy with any of the candidates. A year ago, it was my impression was that the majority were either for Gore or Feingold, with limited enthusiasm for anyone else, including Edwards and Obama.
