He would be appointed by Gov. Kaine if Webb were to go to VP.

Deeds came within 350 votes in the AG race having been grossly outspent by his rival (now AG McDonnell) more than four to one. IT was the closest statewide race ever in VA. To me that shows the strength of Deeds-that he was able to have such a strong showing despite the eclipsing exposure by McDonnell.

  appointment, then when it came time for an election, he would have to win. I'm not convinced it would be all that easy.
