We aren't.
It pisses many people off, especially religious types, but it is what it is. We are mammals.

So "We're mammals!" is now a catch-all excuse for politicians behaving abominably.
Is killing and incest acceptable to us because these phenomena also occur among mammals?
No. We obviously are mammals, but we also have a consciousness which allows us to make choices that go beyond impulsive, instinctual or irrational behaviors.
