      •  We're not monkeys. We *evolved* from monkeys. (1+ / 0-)

Call me crazy for thinking that the intervening millennia should count for something.

that we are that biologically different.

          We aren't.

It pisses many people off, especially religious types, but it is what it is. We are mammals.

          •  Your argument is excessively redundant (0+ / 0-)

So "We're mammals!" is now a catch-all excuse for politicians behaving abominably.

Is killing and incest acceptable to us because these phenomena also occur among mammals?

No. We obviously are mammals, but we also have a consciousness which allows us to make choices that go beyond impulsive, instinctual or irrational behaviors.

        •  no we are part of the monkey family (0+ / 0-)

just a lot less hair but animals just the same.

    •  I suggest you realign your sights then because yo (0+ / 0-)

you will NEVER find a perfect human being.

Your standards are simply to much to ask for a fellow human being.

You must allow them to be human, especially the ones that are trying to be extraordinary in so many other ways.

And you are letting this ONE incident erase everything else he has done.

Not him, YOU.  Because you are the only one with the power to erase it, not he, because what he has done IS done.  You are the only one that can alter your memories of it.

And you have no idea of the context of the situation.  He could have sought out a call girl because his wife and he no longer have relations.  Yet you would demand of him that he let that side of his life die.....

That is not a reasonable request to make of another human being and you know it.

      •  I don't ask for perfect (0+ / 0-)

But I do ask for honorable.

Especially when the politician sets himself up as Mr. Clean, a crusader for reform.

He can't get that agenda passed now.

He has wasted our time and money and energy and confidence, in the stupidest and clumsiest way imaginable.
