...around, a man wouldn't be standing next to his wife. I personally would end the relationship with the woman. That has always been expected of men (lest you become a pushover) yet women are still expected to be submissive and stand by their men.

but I can think of many others involving celebrity women, rich women, etc.
I think there may be separate psychologies at work here underlying the same behavior.
