has posted a number of reasons why Obama is no good.

Well, actually, they aren't her reasons. They are a list of "Obama exaggerations".

And, well, actually, Jeralyn didn't compile the list. Instead her post is a long list of "exaggerations" that Karl Rove has compiled. Jeralyn, ya know, just listed them.

It's not like she agrees or anything.

    She just listed them.

    Without rebutting them.

Sort of just giving Karl Rove props for slamming Obama.

    Because Jeralyn supports HRC.

And why is that a problem?

Oh, and, by the why, I am done with Talk Left. It doesn't get any worse than this.

      So let's see. (none / 0) (#62)

Rove spouts off on a list of Obama "exaggerations"
Jeralyn prints them without comment... which in my playbook is a complicit endorsement of Rove's comments.
And it is a complicit endorsement just because it helps Hillary (but at the expense of the party).
      Well enough of that.
It's one thing to watch as Jeralyn goes Rove on Obama.
But what about you BTD? You're going to be a party to this. I thought better of you.
I'm gone. Done. Finito. (And I expect this comment to be scrubbed.)

has been deleted. One more insult from DannyinLA and he's gone from here. Probably should have done it weeks ago.

What I think is funny is that Jeralyn wants to boot me after one more insult.  I guess she missed the part where I said I was done.

Yes... these are the types of people who "will never vote for Obama"

These people, like Jeralyn and Larry Johnson and SusanHU are the types that will smear Obama without regret or remorse simply because they want Hillary to win. And they want it so badly they can't help but morph into Rove.

These are the worst sorts of "liberal bloggers". These are the ones who launder these smears and then claim they are only trying to tell the truth.

      •  That's the most appalling thing (2+ / 0-)

she's put up so far, and there have been quite a few appalling posts over there lately. Did you see this thread earlier today, on a post citing Glenn Reynolds and Protein Wisdom? Everyone who raised objections to referencing right-wing sites was summarily deleted, suspended, and/or insulted. Here are some samples:

to support Hillary to keep the Dem division going on as long as possible, NO RW sites were linked to here, approvingly or otherwise, that I recall. Now Hillary-supporting blogs are cozying up to Instapundit, Protein Wisdom, Althouse, American Spectator, Fox News, Joe Scarborough, Scaife, etc etc. Some of the same is happening on the Obama-supporting blogs, but not to the really egregious folks like these right-wingers. Sully's always been at the fringes of approval by many, whatever the merits of that.

That is simply false (none / 0) (#27)

And your lack of ability to address the substance of
        JAY COST's post is obvious.

Last warning, stick to substance or be suspended.

Nice.  Nothing better than watching a player play himself.

Come back tomorrwo with some substance.

I don't know how you walk it back after some of the things the Hillary blogs are saying - the hatred for Obama they spew is just mind-boggling. And I'm sure that at least some of the most vitriolic commenters who egg on the division are Rethug agent provocateurs.

I hope they come to their senses pretty soon over there. It used to be a great site with people from across the spectrum. Now it's beyond pathetic.

        •  Jeralyn and BTD love to wield (0+ / 0-)

that "you are suspended" stick. That's what little people do when they want to feel big.

I used to like it over there to... but I can't be part of a place that uses RW talking points to tear down Dems.

          •  They're trying to maintain (0+ / 0-)

a civil space in a contentious environment, and suspension and comment deletion are part of that. They're quite open about that, and I don't fault them for it. It's one approach to dealing with conflict, though their ideas of what's evenhanded in applying it are, well, not all that objective.

But taking this scorched earth approach to the lengths it's being taken - not just there but at all the sites that are doing it, on whichever side - is stupid and short sighted. It's worse in the case of the Hillary sites though because she's been the one who's initiating the negative attacks and forcing him to react in kind. It's just legitimizing all these lines of attack on whoever the Dem is in the GE, when otherwise the R's would have been reluctant to take a race approach, for example, if Obama is the candidate, now it's been opened for them by no less than Hillary herself. Or stirring up angry "I'm won't vote for him, he's not going to be legitimate" sentiment. No one in the blogs should be cheering that on, no matter whose side they're on, if they want a big Dem win in November.

            •  They are not only trying to maintain cibility. (0+ / 0-)

I agree with that. But Jeralyn is erasing even civil discourse simply because she disagrees with content.  It's been done repeatedly there.

Otherwise I am in agreemwnt with you.

by trimming commentary to suit it. Of course dailykos does the same thing with community moderation. I've been thinking a lot lately about something pyrrho wrote a while back about all this that highlights what's wrong with that approach and why:

So which are bloggers: Pundits or Activists? They can be either, or, even, both, but in all cases if they are "blogger" pundits, or "blogger" activists, they should speak their own mind freely, that is the purpose, from the point of view of our national needs, in my opinion, of blogging. Their purpose as bloggers does not lie in categories that apply to them as individuals, roles like "pundit" or "activist". Their purpose lies in the shape of the network, in the grammar of the network and their place in that grammar. This peer to peer network on the internet should rightfully be a place for all citizens to take part in the national and international public debates now finally brought, almost, to the people.

The internet din of political conversation must, absolutely, represent what people are really thinking.

We should be able to use the internet to find out what other people are thinking, specifically people we don't have access to in our closed groups of friends and like minded compatriots. We ought to get a glimpse into real thoughts, not just what people front to those around them to stay working or get laid... or to attempt the losing gambit of tricking a politician into a given behavior. We don't need the internet to convey and perpetuate the type of b.s. surface layer of "things you can admit to on TV". We don't need it for the type of realism you get in a "gritty sitcom" that can have just as much reality as does not offend its advertiser. There is no value in transferring to teh network the type of "truth" a poor journalist conveys out of stuff an insider pulled out of their personally self-serving optimistic imagination.

...People seek to get what's really going on in the heads of their fellow citizens, and you should just give it to them.

A progressive future needs to involve much less manipulation than the past has. Instead of manipulation we need education, public conversation, and personal responsibility. We must all learn to take responsibility for our opinions rather than put the value off to some expert. The notion that bloggers are some new expert, that the old system does work if just we have this newly chosen expert to rely on, to get an opinion from, is, frankly, laughable... not just laughable but pathetic.

                Speaking Your Mind vs. Manipulation

Looks like we all have to get our own blogs in order to speak our minds freely.

    •  The fact that Jerralyn (0+ / 0-)

would publish that list shows how morally and intellectually bankrupt she's become. She knows full well Obama was a professor; she's a lawyer for god's sakes. It's really kind of scary.
