blowing smoke up my ass and wearing shit-eating grins, going around trying to get elected. That goes for Obama too, with his "hope" and "change you can believe in" and his zealous avoidance of anything even remotely controversial.
They go around with their hands out demanding my money and my vote like it's their God-given right. But my trust? They don't give a shit about earning my trust, except so far as it helps them with their bottom line.
But Al Gore is different. Because he hates pandering. You can see it in his face, whenever he's put in a situation where he might have to bullshit people. He hates having to lie and he won't do it just to make things easier for himself. Because he believes in treating people like adults, even after the media trashed him, the Supreme Court stole the election from him, and everyone laughed at him and called him a boring loser.
Would Obama, or any of the rest of them, still fight so strongly for the people after having been burned the way Al Gore has been? Or would they just walk the fuck away?
I'm drunk, and I'm crying as I write this, because this country is facing the worst crisis it's faced since its founding, and yet the best man for the job cannot simply announce for the presidency and be elected without facing the overwhelming storm of malice and stupidity that passes for our political discourse.
I'm sorry, I just don't know what else to say.
