if she outraises Obama, that looks very bad and just keeps this alive.
We need to donate quickly to try to end this thing.

This is one way that they are judging the strength of the campaigns.
Today is the March / first quarter deadline.
Clinton has billionaires threatening to stop donating to the dem. party, we need to show that we may not have their kind of money but we are in much bigger numbers- and our donations add up to more than the donations of a handful of ultra-wealthy.
Give something today if you can, even if it's 5 bucks.

I donated $60 on Friday. With considerable luck, maybe I will get to have dinner with a future president!

lets face it, its hard not to get sentimental over a guy who ever since kindergarden in the madrassa, its been his ambition to deal drugs in partnership with his controversial spiritual advisor, all the while being unable to come to a decision on whether to denounce minister farakhan or merely reject him in his quest to weild supreme executive power..
yes, he's the man. i think i'll make another contribution next quarter. and call a few friends and relations (not mine necessarily, but someone's) in pa., too.

last month and still nothing! it's easy for you, whose snark was born on third base, to look down on a blue-collar snark like mine, trying to pull itself up by its own bootstraps.
my snark has done hard, slogging day labor with no appreciation on the kind of diaries that get a couple dozen comments or even less!
my snark has gored sacred cows and cowed sacred gores here and elsewhere for years now, and has been stupid and revoltingly self-indulgent under my own anonymous handle, without resorting to the usual sockpedophelia (or whatever its called.)
in sum, my snark, if anything, is guilty of trying too hard, and is asiduous in its quest for self improvement. and as olson johnson said, "who can argue with that."

I'm a US citizen, but can't figure out how to donate on the Obama website. I don't have a credit card, only a Maestro debit (fine for all purposes on this side of the pond and accepted everywhere else on the internet...)
I would send a cheque, but can he accept a cheque drawn in pounds on a UK bank account? And how would I get it there before the 1st of April anyway...
I wrote to the campaign a couple of months ago when I wanted to donate before my primary (NH) but they've never gotten back to me - and I don't blame them, they must have zillions of emails every day.

Granted, some of my fears this season have been unfounded (I was seriously afraid Obama would lose Wisconsin and Hawaii), but many of them have been right (I knew Obama was going to lose Ohio by a bigger than expected margin). So I might be worried for no reason, or I might be onto something.

Obama has had no hesitation with placing fundraising in the foreground on his website, with fantastic effects. If he had any concern in that regard, I suspect we'd have seen another "thermometer" which always drives donating almost to a frenzy, as admitted by numerous inhabitants there. He has always placed clear goals to be pursued when the pressure was on, yet has not done so this month, leading me to suspect there is no major concern there. I would not worry without more substantial evidence of a need for concern.

$3 million. So, I don't think they're hurting- but every bit helps, plus- after a huge month ($55 mill), it was inevitable the following months might be less. Which some news orgs will put in their headlines "Obama donations cool- is he losing steam?"
by brueso on Mon Mar 31, 2008 at 10:10:50 AM PDT
by the title that there was some actual thing to be worried about. this is just worry about worry...Clinton is broke, in debt, and nearly all of her $$ can't be used in the primary contest. money is the least of Obama's worries, he's got over $30 cash on hand! not to say people shouldn't donate, just no need to get the vapors here...

She reports fundraising as basically all the same, which it isn't, but the media go right along treating it as the same. If they would report that much of her current fundraising is for the GE and she can't use it for primaries, then this wouldn't be an issue. With them reporting it all as "donations to Hillary's campaign" it does make it look like she's competing strongly.
by ColoTim on Mon Mar 31, 2008 at 09:08:22 AM PDT

If this is true it's going to be horrible for hillary particularly in light of the recc'ed diary showing her not paying her own staff's health insurance premiums and stiffing lots of small vendors on their bills.
If she in fact is out-raising Obama then we have to ask, is :
A) her campaign so poorly run that they can't keep up with simple accounting even though there is plenty of money?
Or B) is she spending so wastefully that even out-raising Obama she can't pay her bills
Not a flattering answer either way.
