  •  Yeah, that's a very odd thing to be "surprised"... (4+ / 0-)

about, to say the least.  You actually know your great-great grandaddy owned a plantation in Mississippi but it somehow escapes your understanding that he must have owned slaves, very possibly a lot of them?

McCain must have been playing at surprise for the media but why?  Since when is willful obliviousness to unpleasant facts attractive in a presidential candidate?

Though, this is the same John McCain -- the all but official Republican nominee -- who says that he doesn't care what anybody says, things are going great in Iraq.  I guess that proves that willful obliviousness is attractive in a candidate, at least if you're a Republican voter.

Apparently there is a big willful obliviousness vote. Apparently, among the many things you have to be to be a republican are:

      1. History began when the Decleration of Independance was signed
      1. Catholics and Protestants always got along famously. The only religion that ever caused trouble is Islam.
      1. Black people appeared out of thin air when Bill Cosby got a television show in the 80's (Thanks Bill Maher)
      1. Native Americans is just a term that applies Casino owners, who don't need their land anyway
      1. Muslims hate us for our freedom.
      1. The French hate us for our freedom
      1. 18 years olds are an inexhuastable natural resources.
      1. I'm sure the list can keep going, but I'm tired.
