  •  Cool !! I got home from my caucus (17+ / 0-)

at about 10:30pm (FWIW I'm in Arlington). It was exhausting and chaotic (5 precincts in 1 middle school gym, and the primary voters didn't end until 8:30), but pretty much everyone behaved with civility. The crowd was very evenly balanced between Obama and Clinton supporters, and I struck up some good conversations with people from both camps. It felt incredibly good to have a relaxed, civil discussion with Clinton supporters, and gave me hope that at the grass roots level everything is going to be just fine after a candidate is selected.

One older gentleman in particular, who was a Clinton supporter, told me and several others about previous Dem caucuses at that exact location. One year, only 8 people attended; another year 12 people. The whole time his face had a grin which couldn't be stopped, as tonight there were 500+ in attendance. And even though we supported different candidates, all the people around could feel an excitement which hasn't existed in these parts for a while.

I ended up being chosen a county delegate for Obama, and as I left, the man came over to me, shook my hand with one hand and patted me on the back with the other, and said "do a good job" with a big smile on his face. It's the best I've felt in a while.
