would make McCain really tough...
Obama/Whoever He Chooses '08 Winning Change for America and the Democratic Party

McCain would have to wear a kevlar jacket to stop the knife in his back.
I long for the good old days where church was the place where we sang hymns and slept. (After Paula Poundstone)

thinking that he has a good shot in 2012 if McCain decides not to run again or loses in 2008 or he is young enough to run again in 2016 in the horrible scenario that McCain gets in and wins a 2nd term...

that one scares that crap out of me
John W. McCain, Bush's third term.
by aaraujo on Wed Mar 05, 2008 at 06:36:33 PM PDT
Want to guess which one?
Don't forget he was sold down the river by the Republican Party and made to look pretty stupid at the UN.

If Hillary is the nominee he could easily be tempted into rehabbing his image by being the 1st black VP

He was bambozzeled by the GWB administration on the war...

That is not an allowed comment between now and November.
"They're trying to fool you. They're trying to scare you. And they're not telling you the truth." Obama '08

Everyone knows that John McCain and George Bush are not the same man and will not have the same administration.
If we go into November with our eyes and ears closed to reality, we will face a fate worse than Mondale's run in 1984
by aaraujo on Wed Mar 05, 2008 at 07:00:03 PM PDT
I'm saying we have to fight the media love for McCain and show people all around the country just how much McCain has aided and abetted Bush the last 6 years.
by bawbie on Wed Mar 05, 2008 at 07:02:12 PM PDT
Navy land and from what I am hearing John McCain's title has changed from "Senator" to "War Hero". No one has ever accused Dub'ya of being a "War Hero"
by aaraujo on Wed Mar 05, 2008 at 07:07:14 PM PDT
abetted him.
I think he was one of the biggest Republican critics of Bush. That may not be saying much, but lumping them together is a mistake.
by HomeBrew on Wed Mar 05, 2008 at 08:01:37 PM PDT
I think he knew as much as anyone. He may have been a good soldier, but he knew what he was doing.
by HomeBrew on Wed Mar 05, 2008 at 08:00:24 PM PDT
Powell and I don't see eye to eye on social issues, and one of McCain's only strengths from our perspective is his stance on the war. That makes Powell worthless politically.

to run.
The VP needs to be younger.

Romney will never be anything, because the primaries showed he can't win anything in the South. Could be the Mormon thing, could be they just think he's a phony liberal from Taxachusetts. But whatever it is, I think it's clear that Romney is a flawed and limited candidate.

McCain...not enough to win them but enough to distract the Democrats...
by dvogel001 on Wed Mar 05, 2008 at 06:41:06 PM PDT
NH is the only one with any chance of going R, and they love McCain there anyways. I think he might shore up some Western states and make Michigan more competitive, but he'd be a drag in southern states and in Midwestern states where the base is mostly evangelicals.

are at all in play, the Dems are finshed anyways. IMHO.

CT and NJ and possibly ME in play with his perceived moderate/independent persona and positions...that would be strengthened with Romney...
I think those states are relative long shots but not Democrat Gimme's like they would be with a Neocon heading the ticket...
