John W. McCain, Bush's third term.

that's pretty much been the Clinton M.O. this election cycle. They'll try to get something to stick before the vote -- that much we can be sure of. Anything less would be out of character for the Clintons.

Before you say anything, know I'm soon to be "Hope Reborn"... be on the look out ;)

I remember an ABC article at the time discussing Bill's pardons.

It didn't stick

Clinton pardoned 3 Weather Underground people.
Would backfire on them big time

John McCain's Something for Everyone Plan: Military draft for youth, SS benefit cuts for elderly, Middle Class destruction, stock market plunge for wealthy.

but conservatives have been pushing the bogus story for a while. that story has no legs.

She's going to drop a huge bombshell the day after the PA primary -- she's dropping out of the race.

fridge. Everybody keeps pushing it out of the way because they are sick of looking at it. The Democratic party had better lock this down or lose support. McShame is out there daily getting a free pass on every fuck-up imaginable.

If you follow the Chicago News, it HAS been getting interesting...
Perhaps some bogus claim about the Chicago "Pay-To-Play" political schemes?

it may not happen. I've heard he was behind the push to constantly go negative. (Or they could just be spreading his name as a scapegoat for the disappointing campaign.)
OTOH it sure seems that Sen. Clinton can't afford a modest (sorry, Gov. Rendell ;) 5-10% victory at this stage, if they are going to hang their hat on "popular vote".
Honor is a gift you can only give yourself. Doubly so in politics.

I am a little worried about it, although I think if they had any more dirt on Obama they would have brought it out before Super Tuesday or before Ohio and Texas. They never planned beyond Super Tuesday, so I would think they'd have used anything they had to knock him out then. That does not preclude them exploiting any gaffes or whatever that he has made since then or could make in the next two weeks, but I doubt they have a lot more dirt on his past than they have already brought out.

what if they didn't think they'd need it? It's the poison pill, the ultimate in horrible horribles, like a pic of the candidate in panties...

they can manufacture it. Just pick something the Hillary camp did and blame it on Obama (like Nafta in Ohio)

it would probably backfire. 40% of the Dems here are pro-life.

for Ohio/Texas.
Read my post above, I'm heard some rumors that Clinton intends to question Obama's claim that he is free of lobbyists with a "bombshell".
by IhateBush on Thu Apr 10, 2008 at 06:54:59 PM PDT
She could surprise us by dropping out. The woman is broke and her #s don't look good. Most people already dislike her because of her negative campaign. I'm sure she wouldn't want to ruin her chances in the fall IF she gets the nomination.
by christine20 on Thu Apr 10, 2008 at 06:50:05 PM PDT
The Clinton campaign never expected this thing to last this long and they fired off most of their reserve oppo research stuff in the lead-up to Texas and Ohio.
Most likely whatever they use pre Pennsylvania will be something they've picked up recently or something way nasty that they thought was too badass to use, even in the dark days before Texas. If so, whatever they use in the week pre 22nd April might well fail, either because of incomplete vetting (snipers anyone?) or becuase it's so over the top nasty that it backfires.
Your operative is dead right about timing though. And that choice of timing is a hint that whatever it is is pretty brutal.
