He was actually proposing that we let the market return to the pre-bubble pricing structure, but he expressed this without sympathy for those who are suffering.
So he came up with a simple sounding "HOME" plan that would make every taxpayer become a co-signer for the mortgages.
Someone must have taken him aside and explained how the money would end up with his constituency, the financial community that devised this disastrous bubble.
And better yet, if no one noticed the hypocrisy he would come out looking like a populist.
And it seems to be working.

They asked him if his wife is going to release her tax returns. He said that they have a 'prenup' so her business is none of his business, and therefore is none of the American public's business. How's that for transparency?
