The irony is Michelle's story only happens in America, according to its most fervent patriots. Cindy McCain's happens in any country with concentrated wealth.

We really do need to think and talk to each other a bit more as a nation, but it often appears that the corporate media is dead set against allowing that discussion to happen.
Regarding healthcare, there was a real eye opening show on PBS last week which went over the healthcare systems of England, Japan, Germany and Taiwan and pointed out the good and bad in each system in a pretty evenhanded manner. All of these other systems were better than ours. The show went on to point out that perhaps here in the richest country in the world we could come together and take the best features from each system and make them work for us.
But the presidential candidates and other politicians need to get over sniping at each other for a couple minutes in order to bring these discussions to the public.
