Hillary.
But if they were to lose, they would rather it be to Obama.
So they have a conundrum.

she may be able to "out Republican" a Democrat like Obama, but she's NOT going to "out Republican" the Republicans.
With Obama, they'd have to change how they played the game because Obama won't give them the openings Hillary will to attack.
You see the silly crap we've been having to deal with from Hillary lately. . .

Let there be no mistake. If the SDs allow this to happen and they derail the Obama campaign then Hillary and her ilk will LOSE THE LEFT FOR A GENERATION! We must be prepared to stiff arm the market tested jingoistic centrists and stand for our ideals rather than their rationalizations for triangulation.

John McCain becomes the odds on favorite to become the next President. And our hopes for building up our Congressional majorities fade.
What is the Clinton gang thinking? Do they really believe they can win in the fall if they seize the nomination via a convention floor vote?
Or do they have a secondary agenda?
I hate to think their fall-back position is 2012. But anyone who really cares about the Party understands that this primary contest can't be dragged out through the end of the summer without devastating consequences.
Obama supporters need to be good winners down the stretch. Repeat after me, Clinton Democrats care about the same things I do. Clinton Democrats care...
by TrueBlueCT on Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 03:04:21 PM PDT
if they do manage to steal the nomination the Obama supporters will "get over it" and vote the lesser of two evils, which they think will be Hillary.
But given her new "tough guy" routine, McCain may become a lot more attractive to people. Sure, he joked about "bombing Iran" but she's talking about completely OBLITERATING Iran, which is different to me. She's given them all sorts of crap to use against her in a general that Obama won't use against her now which I think is unfortunate.
Obama needs to start hitting her on policy. I understand his desire to not go negative on character issues, and I'm glad he doesn't, but he's been too soft on her with her issues with trade, and her issues with foreign policy.

That may, in fact, be true. However, she'll be ceding the support of the indies to mccain. She can't win without them. Sen. Obama will get them. That's what scares the bejesus out of the pubs.

I know some who will either not vote or even switch to McCain (I know, the latter in particular should read more, but them's the facts.).
by Clio2 on Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 03:23:45 PM PDT
I am one of those silly independants who will vote for McCain instead of Hillary.
Politically I am closer to McCain than to either Democrat. I have never voted for a Democrat for Presidient. (I voted for Nader last time ... Bush the first time but was living in Kansas for both so my vote did not matter ...)
I am voting for Obama because you can't expect to change Washington by having the same players playing the same game. (Note sure if that is the exact quote ...)
So Obama or McCain.
I now live in CA and so my vote does matter this time with these three candidates.
by Edge PA on Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 03:40:25 PM PDT
Obama will win the nomination. The math works in his favor. The Clinton myth making spin is merely a desperate attempt to raise money to continue the race. HRC's campaign is in debt. She has no money. She cannot catch up in pledged delegates. Super Dels are melting away from her and toward Obama. All HRC has left is spin and an enabling mainstream media who will advance her myths b/c it advances their profits.
by Libby Shaw on Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 06:55:18 PM PDT
but isn't McCain too?
by nrafter530 on Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 07:33:26 PM PDT
McCain is too, but my point is if I have to pick a same player, I am going to pick the one closer to my beliefs ...
On the war, get the troops out as fast as possible, but I think that is slower than most people will be happy with.
On domestic issues, less government is better, unless the market has been a proven failure. (Health care may fall in this catagory, but I am not there yet.)
Government needs to get smaller. (This leads to lower taxes ...)
Courts need to get out of more issues. (I want a court that does the least, not one that is most conservtive ...)
No, I am not a true believer in Blue America, (Think Colbert for the next line) I prefer Red, White, and Blue ...
by Edge PA on Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 10:55:43 PM PDT
If Obama loses via Clinton hijacking, I, along with many people I know, am not getting over it. We are sitting it out.
I wouldn't have minded voting for Hillary a few months ago. Her shenanigans of late has cost her my vote. She doesn't deserve to be rewarded for this bulls@#*.
by xsonogall on Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 03:40:50 PM PDT
that the GOP is augmenting Hillary's meager coffers. While I think they would like to retain control of the White House, their actions suggest to me that they think Hillary is the lesser of two evils. After all, she seems to support a larger war effort with her newly espoused view of Iran. She will continue lobby influence in Washington, and perhaps she and McCain will simply decide to run on the same ticket.

He has been asked so many questions that no candidate has ever been asked in history of elections. He has to return the favor by asking them the question: Are you directing this question to me because I am black.
The democrats will lose in the fall if they think HRC is the stronger candidate. She is helping the republicans and I believe that she will laugh when Republicans win in the fall against her or Obama. She comes across as a closeted Republican. Look as to who she sleeping with: Fox, Maddock, Scaifer, etc. The woman was willing to sell Move On.org to get the racist vote.
Also, SHE ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT BLACKS WILL BACK HER WHEN SHE IS FINISHED WITH BARACK! THIS IS HOW SHE IS GOING TO DO IT, TALK UP AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AND EVERYTHING ELSE THAT RILES UP AFRICAN AMERICANS.
Lastly, HRC is from the wing of the Democratic Party that wants African-Americans to ALWAYS feel like victims, like they need WHITE PEOPLE to fix the world for them (remember her utterance about MLK and Lyndon Johnson doing African-Americans a favor by passing Civil Rights legislation). This is how this wing stays in power!
Why Obama won't attack HRC - LAZIO effect! She can play victim card easily.

said that either she or John McCain would be qualified to be a better Pres. than Obama. Why? Because if she can't win she is going to destroy Obama. She is connected with the same Elite East Coast people as McCain is. They want either McCain or Hillary as Pres. and will stop at nothing to achieve their goal. Since Hillary, mathematically has lost she is in the fight to destroy Obama for these Elite. The Dem. party NEEDS to WAKE UP and stop her. Ind.'s just might go for McCain.

with the top brass of the two campaigns (and Mehlman and Rove by extension) in cahoots...they hope to keep whipsawing Obama. To some degree, I think - regrettably - that it's effective to have the two front war go on for so long. The same messages coming from two supposedly "separate" sources. I'm getting tired of this d'Artagnan thing. Unfortunately, HRC does the victim better than Obama. Hopefully Alexrod et al have some chops to fend this off in NC.

Back when the Wright/Bosnia things were going on, there were reports from inside the McCain camp, including, I believe, word of McCain himself giving an indication that his campaign went easy on Clinton's sniper lies.
There's no way that doesn't come up in a general election, but for now, they get to sit back and play the field, allowing Hillary to weaken Obama, while stockpiling ammunition to use against her should she pull off her superdelegate coup.
