they are, which is Republicans?
There haven't been Reagen Democrats since 1984. Those voters are now 50 years old. Anyone raised in a "Reagen Democrat" home is a Republican which the Democrats need to convert to Democrat, i.e an Obamacon.
I'm tired of this myth that Democrats will win over these Reagen Democrats. We can't. We can win over, convert, moderate Republicans and make them Democrats - but only with the right candidate. That's why their parents became "Reagen Democrats" in the first place, and why they will become "Obamacons" now.

I feel personally assaulted every time I hear someone mention Reagan Democrats. It's as oxymoronic as compassionate conservative.

Your line was so clear, so precise, so well written, in such a way that I'd never thought of it before, I quoted it and linked entirely back to this comment.
Thanks
Barack Obama. President.

me for a while, but it is a concept that needs, imo, pushing. It's a way to re-frame the issue to the current situation, rather than the way it was in the past.
