is suing Ben Stein for using John Lennon's "Imagine" in the movie without permission. The movie is already a bust, and likely to make zero profit, but the lawsuit should at least have some entertainment value.

Also, the timing of this movie ties in with the recent push for state legislatures to pass "academic freedom" legislation. The measures sound fair, but they are intended to allow creationism be taught in the classroom as an alternative to evolution.
Expelled was screened for legislators in Florida and Missouri. Florida is very close to passing this. In the debate in the Florida House yesterday, the sponsor of the bill specifically referred to Expelled as presenting the reason this bill is needed.

How about presenting the theory of evolution as one possible explanation for biological diversity and then presenting Intelligent Design as a criticism of the theory of evolution, That is what ID is really trying to do--it is not really a scientific theory as such. It is merely trying to question its teaching as fact. Even Michael Ruse (a fierce defender of evolution) admits that the theory is often taught as fact. You are teaching it as fact when you don't permit discussion of its inadequacies.
