an actual shortage of food, it is that the financial geniuses that gave us the mortgage crisis and the vultures who wrecked havoc with Califorinia's electricity rates a few years back have turned their eye to food commodities. They can turn a manageable situation into a worldwide calamity. THAT keeps me up at night.

another way to make a quick buck and electronic trading, they could literally bring down countries. I keep thinking of those Enron energy traders laughing about jacking up electric rates in California. They really created havoc, including rolling brownouts and unheard of electric rates. I really hope there are some strong harvests and they all eat dirt.
