A gorgeous bird.
Can't stick around because I should already be out for International Migratory Bird Day. (Maybe I should bring the camera for a change.) I have the northern part of my county to cover. Though, as in other years when it coincides with Mother's Day weekend, it's gonna be hard to find an American Dipper up on the Rio Costilla. (Dippers being one of my favorite local birds.) Because when the local brain drain comes home for mother's day weekend, a lot of spend Saturday taking their urban kids out flyfishing for trout. Anyplace a Dipper likes to hang out, a trout will like, too.
John McCain voted against health care for kids.

Are you up in the far north? Rio Arriba County? Enjoy!

One of the favorite places I cover is La Junta, where Red River & Rio Grande meet over a deep canyon. I love to watch the swifts cavorting around. Often Pinyon Jays around there, too. Nice wetland full of the songs of Yellow-Headed Blackbirds and Marsh Wrens and one never knows in terms of the occasional shorebird and/or gull and/or grebe, plus various ducks. I like spring Ruddy Ducks and Buffleheads best.
In other words, I've got some of the Rio Grande gorge to cover.
Plus I've got high elevations, too, with things like Mountain Bluebirds and Band-tailed Pigeons and Wild Turkey and Cassin's Finches, too. Typically come in at around 60 species for the day.
Canyon Wrens! Golden Eagles!
Shame on me for still being home at the computer!
Must go!
