believe what you just typed.
No Democrat has carried a southern State for many decades .. well, Carter won Georgia in 76, IRRC, and Clinton Arkansas. Big whoop.
Just say what you really wanted to say all along, don't dance around the big issue here: you don't want a black President.

Carter and Clinton are the only two Dem Presidents we've had in the past 40 years

Not exactly a convincing argument.
The days of seeing a Democrat win Southern STATES is pre-1960.
And Obama is competitive in a number of Souther States.

clearly have no idea which states Carter or Clinton won.

Bill won Arkansas, Tenn, and La both times; and Ga in 92 and Fla in 96.

At least Obama will run campaigns in the south, and not leave them for dead. Either way, I don't see Obama as any weeker in the south then Clinton would be.
Now, happily, a nameless civilian. (Actually, my name is Robby)

Clinton won AR ... and TN and GA and LA in 1992. In 1996 he failed to win GA but won the others, plus FL to boot.
Carter won GA in 1980 against Reagan - in 1976 he swept the south, save for VA.
Mind you, I don't think the Democrats path to victory (ie, Electoral College vote #270) lies in any southern state, so the diarists obsession with the south is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.
