There are a lot of electability arguments both candidates could make for why they are stronger. One of my initial arguments against Clinton was that her high negatives made her less electable. I think she would motivate the Republican base to come out and vote against her, when they might otherwise stay home because they are not thrilled about McCain. I think Obama is a more appealing candidate and starts off with fewer people against him, so he has more people at least willing to consider him.
I have met Democrats who have said they might vote for McCain if Obama is nominated, but I have also met some Republicans and independents who are disillusioned with Bush and said that between Obama and McCain, they'd have a decision to make, but they would never vote for Hillary.
I may have underestimated how much racism would impact people's votes when I started supporting Obama, but if I could choose a candidate again I would not choose any differently. I want a candidate and a president I can be proud of, and as one of the people who worked hard to help him get the nomination, I recognize that I owe it to the party and to the country now to work my ass off to help get him elected, and that's what I intend to do. Rather than moping about Obama being "unelectable", I suggest you get on board and help register new voters to help increase his chances of getting elected. This will also benefit down-ticket Democrats all over the country, helping to give Obama a governing majority if he is elected.
Latte-sipping, Prius-driving, arugula-eating elitists for Obama.
