I was hoping one of the super-delegate announcement diaries from earlier today would've updated theirs as they came, but c'est la vie. Here's to supers!
by kkaabboomm on Mon May 12, 2008 at 10:55:15 AM PDT
while we were waiting for 50 to announce at once, I think it is cooler that they are being rolled out throughout the day and week.
Each one draws some attention to the particular endorser, which is very good for them, and it has a cool cumulative effect that keeps people talking about Obama throughout the day.
And each one kills the HRC campaign a bit more, without creating the reactance that a mass announcemnt might lead to.

when they were freaking out about the "lack" of superdelegates that were endorsing Obama after Tuesday.
It was clear all along that the campaign was controlling the number of SDs that were coming out, and that he favored the constant drip drip method over the flood.

Remember when a few weeks ago Tom Brokaw (I think it was him) said Obama had 50 Supers in his back pocket? He's been trickling them out. We didn't really keep track of the ones that came out before PA. But look at the last 2-3 weeks alone. . .

I'd like to hit 30 by tomorrow, minimum. I don't think that's likely. But I do like the way we have time and focus to read each and every endorsement. Let's face it -- we wouldn't do that if they came out in a pack.
There would be poetic justice in getting 28 by the end of today -- the number of WV delegates.

Example: I'm convinced that one imponderable that she is poised to react to is a terrorist attack in the United States.
Say someone takes out the Golden Gate Bridge. She will call it an epochal/Pearl Harbor like event that the Superdelegates should all swing to her in response to, because McCain represents the losing Bush strategy, and Obama is a Hamas-backed crypto-muslim.
So don't think she's ever going to throw up her hands and say "Well, it just makes sense, it would be nice for me to step aside."
The only way to get her off the table is to remove her.

Anyone know the projected delegate count Obama needs to reach 2025 before OR?
Not this time
by novelle on Mon May 12, 2008 at 11:34:42 AM PDT
According to Poblano, he will get 54 more delegates from Kentucky, West Virginia and Oregon. Since he is 150 delegates away from 2025, he would need 96 more supers by May 20th. That is about 12 per day.
Meaning, another 12 supers today, and then 12 supers every day until May 20th.
It's clear that the Obama campaign isn't doing that, but it's still striking just how CLOSE they are to wrapping this thing up. If they do like 5-6 supers a day, which has been their strategy, then they will only be 50 delegates away on May 20th. Hillary will be like 200 away.

...because that is the day that Obama will clinch being ahead in pledged delegates, once Oregon and KY are counted. He will then be at the 1627 threshold under that marker.
Then, it should just be a matter of negotiating a soft-landing the Fla/Mich bullshit and collecting the remaining SDs as they finally stop hiding under their covers.
