I have long had this vision of the General Election in November where entire Families of African American's will be dressed in their Sunday Best on November 4th 2008 and headed to the polls to cast their ballot.
Many black families are quite Matriarchial and I can see the Grandmothers and Mothers making sure that every family member is registered to Vote all the while weilding a Wooden Spoon to bruise the knuckles on any in the family who dare to resist.
We have to be ready to help with both Time and Money - the newest Voter Suppression laws upheld by the Supreme Court of the United Republican's will be just one more Obstacle in our way.

Or still in early planning? I'd love to hear more about this. Have you done a diary on it?

bitching about the scotus decision, and voter suppression in general.
sure, gopers suck.
but that "tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots" line is less true (or true less often) if we vigilantly protect our rights betimes.

Now let's get out and get our voters registered.
Got 2 registered at the office here in Texas just today.
I'll get the forms over to the registrar myself.

you can't take forms from people unless you've been deputized as a registrar. if you're not, it's probably best to help the person get them mailed in then go down to the office to get deputized.

can download a federal form, fill it iut and mail it in, that can always be used.
In NM we have the second most draconian registration law, put in place by a dem legislature and Bill Richardson when he was planning to run for president to the right of Hillary. Then he saw the polling and decided he was against the war, etc, etc.
