...what you have in mind. I get the impression that it's a matter of black and white to you. But much of the racism here in California has historically been directed at Indians - one of the first statutory acts after California became a state was to put a bounty on Indian scalps - women, kids, didn't matter. Then, of course, there was the treatment of the Chinese, originally brought in for railroad work and agriculture. And, of course, Latinos, first against the Mexicans of California who were here in 1848 when the U.S. took over, and down through the succeeding 160 years right up until today.

There has, of course, been plenty of racism directed at the black population, too.

At any rate, I'd like to learn how you see this curriculum being carried out.

Nitpick: "...faulty Jim Crow legislation..." To me, when I think of Jim Crow, "faulty" isn't exactly the word that comes to mind.

The point is well-taken that there are a number of groups that have felt - and still feel - the blistering impact of racism in this country.  We found out with the Obama electoral run that there are many convoluted reactions in these situations and many ideas as to how they should or could be dealt with.  Having been in education for many years, I see that the dialog alone would be helpful but I suspect it would take a fair amount of time to have a curriculum in place without it being torn to simplistic bits by educational systems across the country before it ever hits a classroom. That's no reason not to start - just a caution that there needs to be significant planning and work to even get this to a discussion stage.
