  •  This is in fact what 147 says (0+ / 0-)

It is encapsulated in the last sentence

147 new un-skilled workers without US citizen or legal resident family already here were allowed to enter the US last year legally and receive green cards.

And for the most part my answer is "yeah ... and ... so, the US has family based immigration ... tell me something I don't know ... wake me up when you get the Hispanic Caucus to go along with changing it. It was tried with S2611 and with S1348".

The numbers in the Yearbook are not incorrect, Duke obviously is upset because there were only 147 unskilled admitted for a give period of time.

Also Duke doesn't mention that there have been 245(i) plus (if I remember correctly) three extensions of 245(i), and the diary implies that none of those that were admitted under family based preferences was unskilled.

And by the way, it's not "impertinent," it's "not pertinent."

I think it is in fact impertinent, but I have already agreed to stipulate for the purposes of these diaries that I am a racist, a xenophobe, whatever you want, I would think that you would still want to flog that beast for a while yet.

Patience, there's still plenty of time to go after my spelling and grammar.

I have already agreed to stipulate for the purposes of these diaries that I am a racist, a xenophobe,

What changes when you leave the diaries? Do you suddenly become a thinking, feeling non-racist with compassion for others when you stop typing? Is that how it works? Or what?

I'm curious, since I don't get to meet many self-admitted racists. Usually people have enough of a sense of shame to at least try to hide it.

      •  I said that I would stipulate (0+ / 0-)

        That I am a racist, I didn't say I was a racist.

I have found if all one has to make their case is argumentum ad hominem they're always going to revert to that, there's nothing I am going to be able to do about it.

As to the rest, I believe that I am in fact a thinking, feeling, compassionate, human being and what others may think I am, this is something else that I am not in control of, I can however assure you that what others think of me does not define who I am.

    •  No. (0+ / 0-)

Duke's entire diary shows both the context and the real reason why it is foolish to use the "just wait in line" meme, as well as the real problems in coming into this country legally.

As usual, you try to reduce it to your own context-less, meaningless statistics, once again conveniently leaving out the humanity of these people.

As far as your being a racist or xenophobe, well as I said, the real problem that is amply shown in your comments is an extreme moral cowardice.  Frankly even racists and xenophobes have shown more humanity in their comments than you have.

Once again you refuse to deal with the substance of this diary.  Once again you are hijacking.

And you have the nerve to run around the thread saying folks are calling you names and using ad hom attacks.  It is to laugh.
