From what I've read in that massive West Virginia diary yesterday, there are lots of folks there who don't get good tv or radio reception; they do have dial-up internet access, but they don't know how to search out good information, so they end up getting their info from chain emails sent from trusted friends. It would never occur to them that an email sent from a trusted friend wouldn't be true. There are tons of emails going around about how Obama's a Muslim, how he won't say the pledge of allegiance, he won't wear the flag pin, his wife hates white people, etc. It's not just religious; it seems to me to be more lack of knowledge about how to use the internet, and lack of knowledge about what makes a good source.
