Obama has some great high-profile endorsements from Appalachia (Rockerfeller, Rahall, Boucher), but I haven't seen him do a whole lot of events with them (except that he took Rockerfeller to Ohio). Hopefully that will change as we turn towards the GE.
I also agree that the "personal touch" is hugely important in Appalachia. Especially because Obama comes from a very differnet background than the Appalachian people (in EVERY way). I think there needs to be some bonding. Appalachian voters and Obama need to take a road trip together, or maybe take a weekend to camp in the new river gorge, sort some things out.
