As far as electing Democrats goes - Good.
It's the Rovian "Repeat a mistatement often enough, and people can't tell the difference" marketing approach.
The reason the Republican (and in some instances, still, the Democrat) machines use these tactics is because historically they work. The mistake is believing that this still works. It does - to an extent - but not the same extent as it used to.
Not enough extent.
Not enough to win.
And less all the time.
The GOP is doomed for the next several years. They need to haul that aircraft carrier out of the water and rebuild it, and that don't happen quickly...
Business geeks like myself who have been working with the Internet phase of marketing long enough have learned (some of us) that in a world of Transparency, Truth works better. Of course you have to have a True Story in the first place, but that's good Business and good Politics, anyway.
If everything is Transparent, then you are driven to find the Truth in the first place and build your business (or politics) around that. Makes for more survivable business models.
All those silly platitudes about not telling lies - they're simply too hard to keep track of - turn out to be true in a Transparent world.
"But it always worked to just blast the market with BS until they believe!!!"
Yeah, and it used to work to just run your Kingdom with a bunch of guys with horses and sharp sticks.
Welcome to the twenty-first Century, folks. Buckle up, your fallacies may be in for a rough ride...
-cheers!

President Bush just accused United States Senator Barack Obama of being Neville Chamberlin (1), himself he compares with Wintson Churchill (2) and he further indicates that we are on the brink of WWIII (3).
Frankly, beside being the most foolish and frightening thing I have ever in my life heard from a sitting President (and remember, I'm effectively right-center and for much of the Bush Reign have at least not been attacking the man), it is wrong and incorrect on every (I hope) point.
So I put this to President Bush:
I sit here feeling that perhaps I have just witnessed the lowest point in American political history. There seems little doubt that - at least during my own lifetime - this is true. The impact and import of Watergate which I watched at the beginning of my political awareness seems to pale in comparison with the overt recklessness of this single statement.
A sitting president loosing a spread of falsehoods and fear against his fellow American politicians and American citizens from a foreign pulpit...
It boggles the mind.

WWIII and that Bush will be happy to start it. Once the dust settles from the Democratic Primary battle and it becomes clear that Obama will trounce McCain in November, Bush and Chenay will pull out all the stops to scare people into voting for McCain. I expect that by October, the U.S. will be dropping bombs on Tehran, causing a chain reaction that could easily erupt into massive regional or even global war. Disrupting the flow of oil out of Iran will cause a catastrophic spike global oil prices that will lead to widespread instability and all out war in much of the middle east. The fate of the world will be decided by the way in which the 3 other superpowers (the EU, Russia and China) respond to this crisis. Call me pessimistic but I see no way that we are not at war with Iran by the election, especially since the Senate already gave Bush de facto authority to attack Iran when they inexplicably and overwhelmingly passed the Kyl-Lieberman bill.

Pull No Punches.
We have to stop this mess.
I agree, Tim, Bush is lining it all up. It makes no sense whatsoever.
I will agree with him all day long about the basic issue of the Iranian regime's foolishness - and even that we take no option off the table - but his entire approach is ridiculous.
Often I have said that I look forward to seeing President Obama sitting across the table from that little weasle Ahmadeenijahd. Hearing our President call his bluff face-to-face with the full might of the US military behind him - with a united world behind him - is something I will gather my family to experience.
But Mr. Bush, you have set the world on a course that only makes sense to one who wants to hasten the apocalyptic prophecies of the most extreme thesists.
