Republicans are more like your appendix- totally useless and unnecessary, but if you don't remove them in time, they'll kill you in a spectacularly painful way.

Most fathers have aphorisms with which they alternately bore and torment their children. My father had them, too. One of his good ones is "no one is so worthless that they can't at least serve as a bad example". Republicans are useful in that respect, and only in that respect.
