for four years, 88-91. (US Windpower, which became Kenetech when it merged with a company that built cogeneration plants.) It was always a delicate balance to keep enough cash going; I left before things got really difficult. I wish the business environment would have been more friendly because we could be so much further down the road to energy independence by now.

Did the math: if the US government simply ordered solar panels on all it's buildings, economies of scale would let home owners install them and pay them off in 20 years.
We would have come to 2000 better off in every way anyone would want. Not to mention the innovations we'd already have in place. Wouldn't have been needing no army in Saudi Arabia either, and all that followed from that.
It's why I try to keep hope in time travel alive.
Until we break the corporate virtual monopoly on what we hear and see, we keep losing, don't matter what we do.
