The line was that he was closer to HRC on the specifics of the health care plan.

And that just strained credibility.

It was clear to me that the most important linkage between John Edwards and Barack Obama was the refusal to take lobbyist and PAC money.  Secondarily both men exude moral courage and integrity.  On other issues that really matter, like Iraq, where HRC and Obama's positions are seemingly similar, it's simply hard to trust that HRC will follow through given her conflicts of interest.

And I could just never see how John Edwards, a man I still respect just as much as Barack Obama, could suck in his gut and make such an ethical compromise over a single difference on one policy issue.
