He's hardly ignoring it, but he's also got another state, clear across the country, to campaign in. Plus, South Dakota and Montana still. Plus, he's got a general election to run and money to raise.
I'm not saying the Obama campaign hasn't or doesn't make mistakes, but right now he has one goal in mind - doing everything possible to be able to declare primary victory on Tuesday. The way to do that is with a WIN in Oregon. As big a win as possible would be great, because then he'll not only have the pledged delegate lead but also solidify his "white voter" cred in the west (a key counterbalance to his weakness in Appalachia). The Pelosi club will fall in line, a bunch more superdelegates will declare, and we'll be able to wrap up everything AND seat Florida and Michigan all by May 31.
And, unfortunately, what happens in Kentucky is irrelevant to all that.
He's campaigning there, don't get me wrong. He's just not trying to wring out the extra votes that are VERY tough to come by in that particular part of the world. Some counties in WV he got under 10% of the vote - and it's not because he didn't happen to show up there, trust me. Nor is it because of his health care plan.
