In fact, today is really the last chance to mail in ballots. My darling wife, who has been canvassing for Obama, has been so busy...she hasn't gotten around to voting!!!! So we'll have to cart her ballot off to the elections dept. building. We don't want to risk the mail being late.
All ballots have to be received by Tuesday.

It's a neighborly day in this beautywood. Relentless!

She comes back with all kinds of stories, ranging from people who meet her at the door saying "Go Obama!" to redneck-y guys who sit on lawn chairs and razz her as she passes by. But she does great. She says to them "oh, it's wingers" and then they're friendly after that.
At this point it's mostly GOTV.

there are some, even in Portland. She tells them they're "wingers" and they seem to like that. I guess it'd be like if a Republican canvasser were to encounter some of us and said "oh, it's lefties". We'd have to agree!

"wingers" were giving here grief. So do you think Portland will go overwhelmingly for Obama? What is your sense there?

Sonny was here with the family on Mother's Day. They live in Wilsonville. We offered to give him an Obama lawn sign but he was reluctant because his Republican neighbors would likely react badly to it. Still, he'll vote for Obama in the primary.
It made me think about my neighborhood. I'd say Obama signs outnumber Hillary signs 25 to 1, maybe more than that. But I wonder if there isn't a hidden Hillary vote that doesn't want to deal with the arguments/discussions that would ensue with a Hillary lawn sign out front.
As far as I can tell around here it's solidly pro-Obama. I'm afraid that it's not quite as solid as I'd like. Hopefully that's an irrational fear.
