One of the "Chicos" - the original group of birds who'd been handraised for a month, and still like to hang out at the lodge. During my visit in 2002, they were following the first chicos who had bred with totally wild mates.

I don't know if they were macaws.
But many years ago, while resting on a beautiful, quiet beach on Mexico's west coast - about one thousand miles south of the US/Mexico border - I heard a great bird conversation in the distance. I looked around and saw that the chatter was coming from an approaching group of birds - as they neared, their voices grew in volumn, and I saw that they were brightly colored - blue, red, yellow, etc.
I always thought that a group of parrots had flown over head, but wonder if parrots fly in groups. ````` peace

their flocks. They stay together for protection (many eyes to spot trouble, and loud voices to warn the others) and to seek food. I'll have more in a comment downthread...
