'just old age' as an excuse.  That is too much like people in past centuries saying someone died 'of old age' when they had no idea about internal and mental disorders like Alzheimers, MS, or lupus.  Someone who is supposed to keep themselves constantly mentally busy like McCain should be able to maintain cognitive ability at his age.  If he doesn't have Alzheimers, then he's just showing his lack of intellectual abilities.
