        Q. What's the difference between head in the sand and head up your ass?

        A. Head in the sand means you can still be screwed.

where nothing worse than a FISA violation ever happens to anyone. I'm sure the homeless will sleep better tonight -- knowing that the D-Kos community is standing up for their phone privacy rights. Day after day after day....

          •  How insulting of the homeless (6+ / 0-)

How absolutely insulting to suggest that the homeless are too who-knows-what to care about the Constitution.

There are homeless veterans who could cite you the Bill of Rights chapter and verse.

That's a shitty, horrendous, thoughtless comment.

            •  No selling your principles out (0+ / 0-)

and then agonizing over how to justify it in these tedious diary's is thoughtless, horrendous, and just plain shitty.

            •  How insluting (and self-serving) of YOU (2+ / 0-)

to suggest the homeless give a damn about FISA. They're living on the street under horrible conditions, and you have the audacity to suggest PRIVACY IN THEIR HOME is something they're concerned deeply about? Good lord.

Homeless people come from all walks of life.  They are artists, poets, construction workers, orderlies.  They have families who have homes, families they still love and care for.  Many of them are military veterans who took bullets for this country, a country that would be a dim shadow of itself were it not for the Constitution.

You know how many homeless people spend their time?  Volunteering at homeless shelters.  Why?  Because unlike you, they can see past their nose and understand that when we heal each other we heal ourselves.  They also have hope; while you may relegate them to a state of permanent homelessness, most homeless people believe their state is temporary, and that they will one day have things like a front door that locks, and a phone that doesn't share a party line with the NSA.

I highly suggest that you consider getting to know some of the homeless people where you live, and stop drawing monolithic conclusions about what they do or do not care about.  You plainly have not a single whiff of a clue.

          •  So true! How could anyone get worked up (6+ / 0-)

about granting the executive branch with sweeping powers to invade everyone's privacy without due process!  I mean, gee, what is the big deal!! I guess you are not capable of holding two or more important thoughts in your mind simultaneously?

my whole point is that D-Kos doesn't seem capable. We're getting essentially CONSTANT updates on FISA, as if we're incapable of being sufficiently outraged and sufficiently active without being reminded every five seconds that we're supposed to be outraged and active. My whole point is that I'd like to know what ELSE is happening in the world. Increasingly, I'm unable to find any of that here.

              •  I have an idea... (0+ / 0-)

                ... if you're not interested in a diary's topic, don't read it.

                Shocking, I know.

It seems to bother you greatly that some of us care about this issue.  It seemingly hasn't occurred to you that some of us can care about one issue at a time.

Instead you spend a lot of time and virtual hot air telling us how stupid it is of us to care about this.

There actually are diaries at Kos on other topics.  Feel free to read one or two sometime.

If you can't stand reading criticism of a FISA post, don't post on FISA.

In fact, I most certainly DO skip most FISA stories, but every now and then I've tried to point out how frequently these stories are appearing, and how infrequently stories are appearing on other topics, many of which are extremely important to a great many people. Seems to me that this is the best place to express such an opinion, but perhaps you know of a better way for me to communicate with people like you?

Regardless, I apologize for sharing an opinion that differs from yours. I now realize the point of this forum is to agree with everything that's posted, and to never question the priorities of Daily Kos bloggers no matter how many FISA stories appear on the front page day after day after day after day.

                  •  Along those lines... (0+ / 0-)

...if you're going to insult the priorities of those who care and post about this issue, don't whine when you get raked across the coals for it.  If you can't stand getting criticized for insulting those priorities and threadcrapping, then don't threadcrap.

                    •  Again, I apologize (1+ / 0-)

for daring to suggest that anyone's priorities are anything other than exactly right. Obviously, anyone who suggests Kos bloggers spend too much time on this issue (or anything else, for that matter) deserves to be raked across the coals, and any response to that coal-raking is clearly "whining."

          •  And when their phone privacy rights are taken (0+ / 0-)

away, thy will vote for a man to be president who helped take them away.

You are right, this whole dialogue is insane, and a waste of everyone's time, since everyone here has already stated they will vote for Obama no matter what.

Pretty sad commentary if you ask me.

          •  FISA and 4th Amendment are meaningless (5+ / 0-)

Huh? snark? trivializing gutting the Bill of rights?   Ummmm...OK.

They don't have any privacy,or phones so they won't get spied on. It is Americans like you and me who are vulnerable.

Bush started spying in Feb 2001 so his DHS police state could get ramped up. He can spy on the world with impunity, it is American citizens that are protected under the 1978 FISA law. Bush needed it exempted and sidelined. Reid and Pelosi are giving it to him, to cover up their own enabling of that spying years ago.

The best reason to support Barack Obama is not his ideas, his oratory nor his background. It's his genius for leadership.

to continue to discuss it, because it already been discussed once or twice? My limit is three times, then its "off the table".

Don't you just hate people that discuss stuff too much. I mean how many times can you talk about something before it gets old. FISA this, FISA that, gees you'd think this was worse than Britney getting drunk again, or Paris had a new sex tape stolen. Like, get a life.

are you waiting for the latest on Britney, Lindsay, and Paris?

      •  bah... that's an easy one... (0+ / 0-)

Britney is old, fat, and trying to remain relevant by claiming to have slept with everyone...

Lindsay is old, drugged all to hell and back, and can't be saved...

Paris is just a slut... a rich slut... but hey, that just means she can afford to be one!

      •  No, this diary just points out chink in BOs armor (4+ / 0-)

Rather than try to convince BO to fix it, we're supposed to ignore it for the 'greater good' or told that it really didn't exist. Been there before and I'm not going back there again.
