  •  I walk my dog every night (4+ / 0-)

I walk my dog every night, at least a half mile, sometimes about two miles.

I just got back from walking my dog about two miles.  I was looking at Jupiter.  I saw lightning in the distance in the East.  I saw lots of lightning bugs.  My dog likes to smell every mailbox.

That is how I stay connected with the universe, connected with the sweet Earth.  Walking two miles in the residential areas of Wichita Kansas, on the west side.

You should see the picture perfect trees.  Massive trunks, wide spreading vegetation, just right for walking under, but thick and dense just above my head.  All over Wichita, the trees are like this.  They must have been planted more than 40 years ago.

Come visit me in Wichita, and I will show you my neighborhood.  Mr. bigjac's neighborhood.

Some people would be better off not reading diaries they comment on, since they already have all the answers.

I read a short, six page version, free to download and print, a short version of the book from 1973, called, Limits to Growth.

When we were young, the world had about 4 billion humans.

If we go past 10 billion in the next 80 or 100 years, we may see gun battles in the streets of America, over food.

Aside from the droughts and floods caused by the climate change.

At the end of that book, is a phrase something like, "Our long term goals must be specific, and our short term goals must lead to the long term goals."

That is why I decided to start calling for all of us to adopt a goal, such as less than 6 billion before 2100.

I do not have a college degree or extensive research to back that up as an ideal goal.  But we need to start yesterday.  We cannot wait for some elusive ideal.

I propose family planning and contraception to reduce the birth rate.  The link in my sig line is to Planned Parenthood's page on vasectomies.  That is my favorite method of contraception.  Fix any male human who will sit still for it.  It is quick and easy, and more cost effective than thousands of condoms or birth control pills.
