It's hardly limited to open Republicans either, but also to defacto Republicans, some of whom, incredibly or not, are considered "heroic" in a sort of rote way by people who pretend to not be right wing and who claim, in fact, to be "conservationists."

In an honest world, we'd extend our criticism of oil owned "thinkers" a little more broadly that easy fat targets like Haley Barbour, which is not to say that Barbour isn't um, dare I say it on this polite website, "evil."

    Consider.

Famous Anti-nuke Amory Lovins describes his revenue sources:

Mr. Lovins’s other clients have included Accenture, Allstate, AMD, Anglo American, Anheuser-Busch, Bank of America, Baxter, Borg-Warner, BP, HP Bulmer, Carrier, Chevron, Ciba-Geigy, CLSA, ConocoPhillips, Corning, Dow, Equitable, GM, HP, Invensys, Lockheed Martin, Mitsubishi, Monsanto, Motorola, Norsk Hydro, Petrobras, Prudential, Rio Tinto, Royal Dutch/Shell, Shearson Lehman Amex, STMicroelectronics, Sun Oil, Suncor, Texas Instruments, UBS, Unilever, Westinghouse, Xerox, major developers, and over 100 energy utilities. His public-sector clients have included the OECD, the UN, and RFF; the Australian, Canadian, Dutch, German, and Italian governments; 13 states; Congress, and the U.S. Energy and Defense Departments.

Lovins and his spin off pal "heckuva job" Romm, who have among other things, cheered on Enron and Jeff Skilling are probably all offering a happy horseshit "Winning the Oil Game" scenario right now, claiming they are not an example of the Gulf of Mexico calling Prince William Sound black.

None of this of course concerns people like, say, Honduran fishermen living on an income of less than $1000/year at the edge of an oil soaked sea.   It's not like Lovins has to deal with oil soaked property in Aspen.
