  •  This is an argument they ALWAYS lose (13+ / 0-)

Whenever I find a wingnut who's falling all over himself to give America's blood and treasure to the filthy rich, I tell him that it's nice to offer to pay the taxes on the fatcat's behalf.  The conversation goes something like this:

Wingut: I don't pay the taxes for the rich.
TNT: You don't?  Who does?  The only econo-demographic left is the poor - maybe they pay the way for the filthy rich?
    Wingnut: * uncomfortable *
TNT: Of course you pay their way.  It's gone from a highest-bracket tax rate of 91% in the Eisenhower years to now, a time when the middle class pays the majority of American taxes.  People like you.
Wingnut: Nobody should have to pay a high tax level.
TNT: Last time I checked, the Cowboy took a 3T surplus and turned it into 13T of debt.  Should we just not pay that?
    Wingnut: We can cut  . . .
TNT: I know, I know . .  cut programs, blah, blah.  Six years of Republican domination from 2000-2006 failed to cut anything.  Instead, they created the biggest government of all times.

Maybe there isn't anything left to cut, except the military.

    Or we can pay taxes . . . .
