    No, I'm not confused here.  Religion is an organized system, true.  But that isn't somehow inherently wrong.  A government is an organized system to control people, too, but that doesn't make it inherently wrong, either.  All but the most fanatical libertarians would probably agree that government is not the problem -- power-hungry fanatics who use the governmental structure to further their own ends are.  I would submit the same to be true in the case of religion.  "To bind together" (from the same root as "ligament" or "link", right?) is not an inherently bad thing - it is how societies exist, instead of barbarism, for example.
