  •  They really don't get it, do they. (5+ / 0-)

The ultimate result of this ignoring of proper ethics is going to be a whiplash effect.  The constituents are getting really angry about this.

Every Republican is at risk - this will carry over to 2008 if they aren't careful.  How can they possibly be so short-sighted?  They didn't get where they are without being politically savvy.  Why, oh, why are they being so blatantly avaricious and stupid?

I'm sure you've been thinking that all along, Rep. Slaughter.  We're watching and dully noting your efforts, and thank you for it.  And the lack of effort on their part will be greeted with a vote against them at the earliest opportunity.

    •  Thank You ... (12+ / 0-)

      They sure don't.

They are arrogant.  Their leadership has deluded themselves to thinking that American people do not care about congressional corruption scandals. That is why they can call this sham bill as a reform proposal with a straight face.

Whatever the Republicans have can only be called leadership in the worst sense of the word.

I DO thank you for your leadership Congresswoman!

I care about congressional corruption scandals.

The American Public cares too - it is because they cared that many Democrats were rejected in 1994 elections.

And the American Public still cares. The polling results prove that.

It took the Democrats about 30 years to become corrupt (yeah, I know, not all of them were corrupt).

It took the Republicans less than 10 years.

This point HAS to be pushed home repeatedly.

        ...but not your own facts.

      •  Unbelievable (0+ / 0-)

Their leadership has deluded themselves to thinking that American people do not care about congressional corruption scandals.

What short term memories they must have, either that or the left hand really REALLY doesn't know what the right is doing.

How can they run baseless smear campaigns and not think that their own corruption will affect them?

What I'm looking forward to seeing from my party is twofold:

        • a clear message in '06, '08 and beyond with a  progressive agenda (as opposed to regressive).
        • enough self-control and political finesse to keep clean of the scandals rocking Washington D.C.  The Republican ship is sinking and they will do anything to take down everyone around them.  Can we keep this political Titanic partisan?

Do you think the Dems have any hope of achieving those goals?

Good luck Rep. Slaughter and thanks for talking with us.

The budget is a moral document.

all they need to do is con some half witted naive lemming lib like Lieberman into falling into huge scandal trap which would turn this whole corruption thing into a bipartisan issue. Then FOX news will have 2 years worth of ammunition to use against dems. This would get them through the 2008 election. You know this is gonna happen, don't you? It would only cost the repugs a few million $$ and would be totally untraceable.

      Go [hunt] yourself, Mr. Cheney
