but since this diary seemed to be aimed at Americans over a song produced by a white Englishman, but latched onto by the Immigrants rings a little false, since it was not something done to support the immigrants by a immigrant. I actually support legal immigration, I even speak some spanish. I have trained  Mexican immigrants in my trade, and they out of respect, learned english. I just believe if immigrants want to be taken as serious about being a citizen, out of respect for the nation they wish to join, should learn English and This hoopla about the Anthem will hurt thier cause more than help it. I've also heard this same opinion from of the Spanish Speaking DSs locally, and about half the callers to the Spanish speaking radio station.

How does a single Spanish-language version of the U.S. national anthem set off an argument between, "Hey, man, it's a tough language and I'm trying to learn" to "Fuck you, man, I'm not speaking your ratty language" to "Speak English, you wetback sonsabitches, or get the fuck outta God's country!"?

Control how people speak and in what language and you own them.

      Control.

Not encourage, cajole or otherwise promoter English as a good idea.

      That was my diary.

We can talk without the threats, dire or otherwise, and we can swap cultures without anyone (except for Sean hannity and his minions) feeling like it's all going to hell in a handcart.

you point, if so , sorry. The sad part of knowing spanish and being white, is knowing that this is not a one-sided thing. I know what they say behind my back, or under thier breath when they think no one can understand. I didnt see or use any of the language you use above, so you have lost me. As part American Indian, 1/8, which is not enough according to tribal law to be part of the tribe, I understand discrimination also.
