...I really appreciate your writing, but I do have some electoral worries for our party.

We need a majority, however narrow, in order to get any kind of say in what gets done. I know you guys are working hard to do that, but I'm worried that our gains in November will be severely limited because of the lack of a high-profile, catchy platform a la Gingrich '94.

We need a comprehensive but memorable platform to roll out around August or September.

Otherwise, a lot of people who would be voting Dem will just stay home feeling hopeless about both parties.

This will not be a strong Democratic year if we don't get people fired up to vote Democratic. Turnout has been extremely low so far this year, from the primaries in Texas and Illinois to the special election in CA-50 to the mayoral race in New Orleans, and everywhere else.

Please, Leader Pelosi, you know better than anyone how desperately we need one house of Congress. We can do it in the House, 15 seats is not that much, but we can't keep being portrayed in the media as laying back and doing nothing. I know perfectly well that House Democrats are very active, but most Americans are getting a picture that is basically: "Republicans struggling, Democrats MIA".

If we're going to win Congress, at least the House, this November 7, we MUST get people fired up. There is a national anti-incumbent malaise in most of the country. Democrats need to turn this malaise into national outrage against the Republicans.

The party of corruption.  The party of Katrina neglect.  The party of unprovoked war.  The party of stolen elections.  The party of permanent tax cuts for the mega-wealthy.  The party of dishonesty and secrecy in government.  The party of gay-bashing.  The party of disinformation.  The party of illegal wire-taps of American citizens.  The party of massive deficits.  The party of hatred and division.  The party of, for and by corporations.

Dems/progressives are the party of hope.  The party of unity.  The party of open government.  The party of social conscience.  The party of conservation.  The party of peace.  The party of prosperity for all citizens, not just the mega-wealthy.  The party of environmental responsibility.  The party of a functioning FEMA.  The party of intelligence in leadership.  The party of a balanced budget.  The party of diplomacy intead of war.

Let's set the agenda in November!

Great content. But please edit your subject line to remove.....oh, shit. That's right. No can do.
        That bites sometimes.

And I'd have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for those meddling kids.(-8.50\-7.13)

Well, I do declayahr, this is most beastly!

My apologies to students who took my U.S. Government class in the 90s: evidently the Constitution doesn't limit Presidential power after all. Who knew?
