I'm aware of many of the strategies but since I deliberately avoid advertising, I have a difficult time delineating them.  I am actually more aware of my automatic counters to most marketing efforts than I am of the actual efforts.

So if anyone wants to write a diary of Marketing 101: Buy ME!, I'm all for it.

to McDonald's?  Ya gotta be kidding.  I want Tahiti or Hawai'i at the very least!

Whether it's professional advertising or not, someone, somehow marketed the stuff that you buy.  Maybe someone told you about it, maybe you saw someone with something that you like, whatever.  That said, I don't know much about professional marketing because I study history, not business, but a diary like that would certainly be interesting.

      •  Of course it is. (0+ / 0-)

My local co-op sponsors Morning Edition on NPR.

After I get done buying my organic milk I come home to a glossy magazine(not a mere flyer) from a jewelry store.  Diamonds! Gold! Isn't it all bee-you-tee-full? Sure - and I need to take my car in for service and I'm wondering what our share of my upcoming surgery will be.  Diamonds?  There are cheaper ways of cutting glass.
