    1968 was a little before my time (okay, I was 3 years old), but from what I understand, after turmoil of the convention, seemed almost no way Humphrey could win, yet he almost did.

    Remember, Humphrey was instrumental to the Democratic Party to open up to minorities and civil rights going back to 1948. While he unfortunately got tied to LBJ and the war problems, he was a decent man and a great Democratic leader, in every modern sense. Please don't forget this.
