  •  I'd like to repeat: (29+ / 0-)

    Eight and a half months.

And we're entering hurricane season again.

I have only a few family members left who haven't permanently relocated.

Water tempertures in the Gulf of Mexico are already at June levels, i.e., the water's already warm and it's going to be a long, long hurricane season.

into his home. Other family members have been unable to rebuild their homes, are unsure what they will do.

My friend, like so many survivors of this disaster, is depressed and frustrated. He has no idea what the coming weeks and months will bring. Part of the reason he is depressed is that there is a sense of guilt, that he was able to find another place to live temporarily, he kept his job and had the resources to survive. He is grief stricken by what he's seen and learned, and so sad that his coldhearted and disorganized government is so careless in their support for humanity.

This whole thing just sickens me to the core.
How our President can continue to spend (and lose) billions on his middle eastern follies, yet let these people suffer & scrape by, leaving them vulnerable... it is just sickening.

Before this video essay, I wasn't aware there still are areas that are flooded. I knew there are large portions of the city without power and running water, that are highly contaminated. But I thought they'd at least dried out the entire NO area. I sure hope they don't face any severe weather this year.

It is just sickening how our government continues to ignore this continuing tragedy. It is just unacceptable.

I remember a time when our President was the leader of the free world. ****** Repeat after me: "Neoconservatism has failed America."
