In 1996, central OCers did an amazing thing when they sent "B-1 Bob" (Dornan) packing. In 1998, the good vibes kept coming as Joe Dunn won the overlapping State Senate seat, and Lou Correa won the Aseembly seat....

However after 2000, the Dems started slacking off... and for a while, the Rethugs were salivating on recapturing SD-34 this year as Joes Dunn is being term-limited out. Fortunately the canvass fraud scandal has given (yet another) black eye to the Rethug Mafia that runs all things political in the Land of the OC, and Correa might have enough momentum to beat scandal-prone Assemblyman Umberg in the Dem primary. Still, the party should not have sat on their hands for so long as the Rethugs were registering (albeit, fraudulently) new voters.

If we want to win in the long term, there is no doubt in my mind that we must not just focus on sexy swing areas... but also focus on turning red districts blue... and continue the realtionship in these areas to ensure that THEY STAY BLUE!
