Please say it ain't so. I'll no longer recognize the planet.

We've got huge swaths of the state that are red. All but the coastal regions.

There are large areas of California where people dare not admit that they are Democrats. And these areas are growing in population.

We need to be concerned about reaching out to California's increasing Latino population:  a good many of them are socially conservative and can be persuaded to vote Republican on "family values" issues.  The current immigration controversy is helping us out... but we can't count on the Republicans to screw up on this forever. We need to be well organized and networked throughout the highly diverse neighborhoods of California.

Dean can help us get there.  Begala - What's he got?  Cant about "winning elections".

told me that for most Asians, there is a kind of welcoming ceremony, either when they get here, or when they get citizenship. Big party thrown for them -- must be when get citizenship.

She said there is almost never anyone from outside that community there.

Oh, and that there are ALWAYS Republicans there registering people to vote. That people just sign up as R's, because they don't see another choice.

        Food for thought.

          But it sounds about right.

Another reason we need precinct organizers in every neighborhood.

          •  We should be doing social gatherings every n'hood (1+ / 0-)

I think. Those social connections are going to be our best defense if  things keep getting worse. (Which, darn it, they seem to be.)

And our easiest method to find new volunteers, people to spread the word, etc.
