I was reading an article somewhere (Newsweek? online? somewhere?) where it said that the Democrats tend to treat their campaign managers and staff as equals, whereas the Republicans treat their campaign managers as employees.

And that explains why Kerry and others keep hiring the likes of Bob Shrum while Shrum manages to lose yet another presidential election.  Meanwhile, Shrum gets richer.  He LOSES elections, people!

Frankly, Paul Begala, I would rather pay some no-name local organizer $25K to pick his/her nose in Utah while lining up new voters - instead of wasting far more money by lining YOUR pockets some more and in return have the pleasure of hearing you praise Rumsfeld.

Successful organizations are not a democracy. Kerry is the boss; therefore, he should have been the one making the decisions. Good leaders have to go with their gut; Kerry's gut instinct was to answer the SBVT people. The fact that he did not cost him.

This was not Bob Shrum's campaign; this was John Kerry's campaign.
